- The Kobo Clara 2E: A Reader That Stands Out
For years, when someone asked me for an e-reader recommendation, my go-to answer was the Kobo Clara HD, especially if they weren’t deeply invested in the Amazon ecosystem. While I’ve been impressed by compact devices like the Boox Poke 3 and the ergonomic Libra 2, the new Kobo Clara 2E has re-entered the running for my top pick.
Don’t expect a radical overhaul; the Clara 2E is very similar to its predecessor, but with some key improvements that make it stand out.
The most noticeable upgrade is the display. While not a night-and-day difference, the enhancements over previous models are undeniable. Text appears sharper and darker, while backgrounds are noticeably lighter (or vice versa in dark mode). You might not notice it unless you compare them side by side, but trust me, the improvement is real. The color-adjustable lighting seems to be largely unchanged.
